Understanding Jewish Objections to Christianity
Exploring Jesus, Paul, and the Gospels through Tanakh, Jewish history, and lived experience as a Jewish convert.
Hey, I’m Tassja,
I'm a Jewish convert and cultural commentator. I bring Jewish scripture, history, and lived experience to conversations historically shaped by Christian theology.
My work centers on theological literacy, conversion journeys, and interfaith discourse—helping seekers move past fear into deeper understanding.
What I Do
Your Questions, Answered
-
The Messiah is expected to fulfill specific, concrete criteria outlined in the Hebrew Bible. These include rebuilding the Temple in Jerusalem, bringing lasting world peace, restoring universal knowledge of G-d, and gathering the Jewish people back to Israel.
Jesus did not fulfill these requirements during his lifetime. Judaism does not believe the Messiah comes in two stages or returns later to complete unfinished tasks. Because these biblical expectations were not met, Judaism doesn’t recognize Jesus as the Messiah.
-
Judaism and Christianity share some biblical texts and historical roots, but they developed into distinct belief systems with fundamentally different theological frameworks.
Judaism teaches radical monotheism and doesn’t accept doctrines such as the Trinity, original sin, or salvation through belief in a divine intermediary. Christianity is not a continuation or fulfillment of Judaism.
-
Judaism does not consider the New Testament to be divinely inspired scripture.
The New Testament was written decades after the events it describes, primarily in Greek, and reflects theological ideas that differ from Jewish teachings. Jewish interpretation relies on the Hebrew Bible and centuries of rabbinic scholarship, not later Christian texts.
